2011 has started much more slowly than I anticipated, and given everything that’s going on in our lives may continue in that vein for a bit longer.I’m trying to grab a few caches her and there but my desire to have a marathon day has been stymied.
It’s been a while since the last post. January was a cold moth and it’s continued into February. Considering too that I’ve been under the weather for about 3 weeks, and I’m glad I got to grab a few yesterday. I’m in need of a marathon session, and the soonest I’ll grab a quantity will be next weekend or shortly thereafter. And so it goes…
On a chilly New Year’s Day Sharon and I found the first five of 2011 – all within a few miles of our house. Fergie came along for her ability to “sniff” out caches. We’ll go out tomorrow as well to keep the ball rolling.
This is a couple of days late. On Christmas we went to Gillian’s in-laws for dinner and just before we ate, she and I went out in Chandler and grabbed a few caches to start the quest towards 2000. I’m going to get a little more aggressive and try for some massive days this winter. There are some areas around town where grabbing 50+ in a day is not unreasonable. Who knows, 2000 may not be out of reach in 2011.
Today I finally reached 1000 finds! Sharon and I started the day in Old Town Scottsdale. We were joined by Gillian, Kyle, and Kellen who helped me find a few more. We ended the day near the Princess resort and finally snagged the 1000th cache. Next goal will be to see how close I can get to 1500 in 2011.
This will be our first Thanksgiving with our grandson, Kellen. My mother came to town so we have 4 generations together including “the first of the first of the first of the first”. Got a late star and only picked up two after dinner. Getting closer. Oh, and I still thought turkeys could fly! Thank you Mr. Carlson.
…is not, in this case, the headlamp of the oncoming freight train. I see hitting 1000 finds before the year is out. Summer is over, the days are gorgeous, and I have the time to go grab what I need for that milestone. Today Nikki, Fergie, and I spent some time together, and picked up a few. While the number was low, it was more about hanging with Nikki as we haven’t done so in a while.
The app for the iPad has been updated. This is a test. This is only a test. Had this been a real post…
I installed this new app on my iPad anticipating blogging from the field. So far it crashes every time I try to publish the one post I’ve created. This is inexcusable. I hope they get their act together and fix this.
